The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
My review of The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F.ck, by Mark Manson.
The idea is good but no need to read the whole book: Stop giving a F about what others or society expects from you, and start taking responsibility.
Notes
"After all, no truly happy person feels the need to stand in front of a mirror and recite that she's happy. She just is" → I disagree with that sentence, since part of happiness is reactualizing all the time. Many people could be happy and they're not because they just can't see it.
Not everything is your fault, but everything is your responsibility.
"That’s simply reality: if it feels like it’s you versus the world, chances are it’s really you versus yourself."
"You are already great because in the face of endless confusion and certain death, you continue to choose what to give a fuck about and what not to. This mere fact, this simple optioning for your own values in life, already makes you beautiful, already makes you successful, already makes you loved. Even if you don't realise it. Even if you're sleeping in a gutter and starving."
